Step 3: Portfolio Items

Contents

What are the portfolio items?

The portfolio items section is the heart and soul of you portfolio. This is the section where you will create and edit you portfolio "artifacts" (the pieces of work that you are adding to your portfolio). This is also the section where you can view your entire portfolio and is the page you will show when you give your benchmark and graduation portfolio defense.

Create / Manage Artifacts

In the "Create / Manage Artifacts" section you will upload or link to your artifacts and upload your artifact reflections. Basically this is the area where all you work and explanations of your work will go. The Create / Manage Artifacts page should look like this:

If you are just starting out, you will have no artifacts at all. If you are returning, you will have one or more artifacts listed. Creating artifacts has lots of steps, so it is covered in its own section. For now, just know that this is the area where you create and store your artifacts.

Artifacts are stored in 2 sections:

In Progress Artifacts Summary
These are artifacts that you are still putting into the portfolio. You may still need to upload the artifact, add your reflection statement, etc. Artifacts should stay in this section until a teacher tells you to submit it.
Submitted Artifacts Summary
These are artifacts that have been 100% completed and are ready to be shown in your portfolio. Artifacts should not be in this section unless you were instructed to do so by a teacher.

My Portfolio

The "My Portfolio" page is the face of your portfolio. This is the page that shows all of your work in a neat and organized way. It shows the artifacts, the classes they are for, and the skills used in creating the artifacts. The My Portfolio page should look like this:

Show/Hide benchmark portfolio cover letter/introduction
Clicking this button will show your introduction, if you have written one. This can remain hidden until you are ready to present your benchmark portfolio.
Show/Hide graduation portfolio cover letter/introduction
Clicking this button will show your introduction, if you have written one. This can remain hidden until you are ready to present your graduation portfolio.

End of this section

Congratulations! You have successfully gone through the portfolio items overview! Now lets go on to step 4, Creating New Artifacts. Go to next step
