Principal's Welcome

Principal’s Welcome

Principal Kirsten GrimmWelcome Students and Families,

I am excited for the 2012-2013 school year!  We have hired an excellent staff, all of whom are committed to preparing all students to succeed in a four year college, in their community, and in life.

The first step in this journey is to create a community in which all individuals support each other to reach this end. Therefore, a focus for the 2012-2013 school year will be for every member to live our Core Values and for the Core Values to shape our culture.

Core Values

Discipline: We discipline ourselves so no one else has to
Growth: We are committed to lifelong learning and personal growth
Community: We work hard and take responsibility for the success of all members of our community
Justice: We are empowered agents of change for social justice and equity
Respect: We seek to see the best in each other and treat one another with dignity.  We give respect in order to get respect

For our students to truly be prepared to succeed in college, they must be proficient in the four competencies: analysis, research, inquiry, and creative expression. This requires our students to be able to think, read, and write critically.  To this end, we are launching a 2-year literacy initiative called Read Write Revolution. Teachers will be using similar literacy strategies across all content areas, we will provide reading interventions, and there will be school-wide competitions focused on literacy. Our goal this year is for all students to read at least 5 books and move up at least one level on the Common Writing Assessment.

I look forward to a year full of learning and growth!

With Respect,

Kirsten Grimm
